Jay Rubin (*1941) is a professor of Japanese Literature at Harvard.
Besides Murakamis books Norwegian Wood, Wind-up Bird and Quake
he translated other Japanese writers like Soseki Natsume (The Miner
and Sanshirô).
His own works include 'Making Sense of Japanese' and 'Haruki Murakami
and the Music of Words', the first indepth biography about HM.
